China – Day 1 – Dinner

For dinner on the night I arrived, Vivian and Justin took me to a small local restaurant near their favorite coffee shop. Vivian ordered a bunch of plates for us to share and it ended up being waaaaaaaaaay too much food. But it was good!

China
This pile of leaves and meat came out first. Neither of them seemed to know what kind of meat was in it, and normally I don’t eat mystery meat, but the jet lag and hunger overruled me. Whatever it was, it was good.

China
The lamb and chicken wing skewers were cooked behind us on a street grill.

China
Just as we were all half full of food, this giant bowl arrived at the table. Oops. It’s potatoes, huge noodles, and chunks of chicken.

China
After dinner we stopped a 7-11 where it was “Malaysia Week”. I assume it means they were featuring Malaysian convenience foods…

China
The 7-11 was very obviously a Chinese 7-11, as you can see from the front row of products. But in the back, that row of chip cans could be a 7-11 anywhere in the United States!
