Our first stop after leaving the airport was a coffee shop that my brother (Justin) and Vivian often hang out in and use as an office. I was still wide awake after the flight from Doha and I felt slimy since I’d been traveling for over 24 hours. But we couldn’t head home because Beijing has rules about which cars can be driven on which days (an anti-smog measure) and this was a day that Vivian wasn’t allowed to drive until 8pm. So we were stuck in the city until then.
Justin and Vivian working at the coffee shop. Yes, that is my laptop in the front with a video of a fluffy dog on the screen.
The whole place reminded me of Finland. They also have a thing for stuffed animals, each table has one on it.
Each depressed-looking bear is holding a placard with the WiFi password written on it.
Vivian pets a sad elephant on our way out.
It was finally late enough to eat dinner so we headed across the street!
