China – Day 1 – Pet Store

After dinner, Vivian had to run back to her downtown apartment so while she was gone, me and Justin wandered around.

China
Their neighborhood is not a tourist destination so the street signs are mostly not translated.

China
These two characters are easy to spot all over the city: “North” (bei) and “Capital” (jing). Beijing!

China
Justin lives in an apartment on the same street, so he took me to the pet shop he visits when he needs a furry fix. We always had pets when we were growing up and now he doesn’t have one, so he comes in once in awhile and plays with the dogs.

China
There were three today. They were all fluffy and adorable.

China
This is Email Cat. Notice the furry @ symbol on its stomach!

China
If he wasn’t allergic to cats, this one might come home with him. He thinks its fur pattern looks like a tiger.

China
More cute cats.

China
Cats here look slightly different than American cats, they had fur colors and patterns you don’t see often. Some of them have differently-shaped faces too.

China
Eventually Vivian came back from her apartment and we walked back to her car. It was finally after 8pm and she was allowed to drive it again! Our destination was the suburban apartment that her mother bought her, but since it’s an hour’s drive away on the very edge of Beijing they don’t use it very often.
